Part of the funding for this project was dedicated to enhancing the exisiting display concerning the reform riots in Bristol in 1831 at the City’s premier social history museum M Shed. Over the last year we have been working closely with curator Helen McConnell-Simpson and her colleagues at M Shed to both expand and enrich the historical experience of the exhibition. We have more than doubled the floor space of the exhibition, added new graphics and a 10 minute animated video telling the story of the riots based on our research. The enhancement to the 1831 exhibit is part of a general revamping of the history of protest section in the Bristol People gallery.
The new exhibition was launched to invited guests on Friday 19 April by Helen McConnell Simpson, Prof. Steve Poole, Dr Roger Ball and Ralph Hoyte. You can visit the exhibition in the Bristol People gallery on Level 1 of M Shed.
