We are pleased to announce that the interactive soundscapes which make up the Fight For Reform: RIOT1831! Self-Guided Walk are now active. The designers Ralph Hoyte and Phil Phelps of Satsymph describe the experience and how to activate it on your smart phone:
Immerse yourself in the tumultuous history of the 1831 Reform Riots right outside M Shed with our interactive audio experience. This self-guided walk, powered by a user-friendly app, transports you back in time to when Bristolians rose up and demanded significant electoral and social reforms.
Experience highlights:
● Vivid reimaginations: listen to the stirring tales of how the Bishop’s Palace was burnt to the ground, the New Gaol stormed and Queen Square ravaged, all pivotal moments in Bristol’s fight for reform.
● Accessibility: the experience is permanently available and completely free. All you need is a smartphone and preferably headphones for the full immersive experience.Before you begin: enhance your understanding of the historical context by visiting the ‘People and Protest’ display inside M Shed.
How to get started:
● Download: search for ‘SATSYMPH QR’ in your app store and download it to your smartphone.
● Scan to add: open the app, press the ‘SCAN’ button, and scan the QR code provided below. This action adds “RIOT1831” to your app’s library.
● Embark: You can start this experience at Bristol Cathedral, Queen Square, or outside M Shed. Select ‘RIOT1831’ in your app’s library and follow the on-screen instructions to let history unfold around you
