The dual launch of a new booklet published by Blandford Town Museum I fear there will be blood spilt this evening’ The Blandford Forum riots of 1831 and the Blandford 1831 riot soundscapes, an interactive audio experience which tells this powerful story through a self-guided walk visiting key sites where riotous behaviour took place.

Prof. Poole and Dr Ball will outline the social and political context to the reform riots in Blandford in 1831 and discuss the research undertaken for their new book ‘I fear there will be blood spilt this evening’. Ralph Hoyte will introduce the app-based 1831 riot soundscapes in prepartion for two guided soundscape walks….

Ralph Hoyte, Professor Steve Poole and Dr Roger Ball take a walk through time, space and sound to relive the Blandford Forum Riots of 1831.

The launch of a soundscape, an interactive audio experience which tells this powerful story through a self-guided walk visiting key sites where riotous behaviour took place. You can listen to the call for the Riot Act to be read and to the sound of troops on horseback charging at the rioters.

Guidance in accessing this user-friendly app that can be downloaded to smartphones. Participants will be able to download the app, with help if needed, or listen to it on a loudspeaker. The walk will last 40 to 60 minutes.
